Based in Springburn in Glasgow, Short Breaks is a fantastic service offering family focused support for children and young adults with additional or complex needs. We offer residential short breaks for children and young people from 5 years to 21 years old. It enables children and young people to enjoy time away from home taking part in a range of activities, making friends and developing their independence.
Through a popcorn and movie night with a familiar film, playing a favourite game in the garden or by providing the right sensory environment, our team works i partnership with families to create a home away from home experience based on the needs of the young person. It is a safe, purpose built environment where children and young people's needs and preferences are at the heart of what we offer. With full access to our sensory room, hydrotherapy spa pool, art and crafts room and large enclosed garden, it is a great environment for our team as well as our children.
Due to an increased demand for our service we are now looking for child focused, team players to join us thirty hours per week.
In this exciting role you will provide the care and support appropriate to our fantastic children and young people. You will put them at the heart of what you do and ensure that you plan and implement activities to meet the individual needs and aspirations of every young person. You will ensure what we provide the highest quality of care everyday and night, so that our children feel safe, secure and well cared for. You will ensure that care plans are carried out, including the administration of medication, and model excellent social care practice.
This is a hands on role so you will be involved in the general day to day support and care (including personal care) of our children. You will act as a key worker to identified children and contribute to the setting up, carrying out and reviewing of care plans. You will support the families and carers of the young people and empower our children to access local services and leisure opportunities.
Ideally you will be qualified to SVQ 2 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) and have previous experience administering medication and previous experience working with children.
