Working for Nottingham City Council has great benefits. As well as competitive pay, great leave entitlement and access to a generous pension scheme, we strive to create an innovative, inclusive and progressive work culture where everyone is supported to do and be their very best.
In return, we are looking for people who are innovative, driven and committed to serving and improving Nottingham. If you are passionate about making a difference to the lives of those who live and work in our city, we want to hear from you.
About the Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a successful candidate to join the Innovation & Change Team in the Parking service area, a team that has been recognised as leading the drive towards decarbonisation and best value in local government, with a focus on progressive transport technologies.
Our project lifecycle approach means we are able to explore and assess best practice and innovative ideas from around Europe and deliver them in Nottingham. From scoping through to implementation and evaluation, our team ensures that benefits are realised for the people of our city.
Nottingham’s Workplace Parking Levy (WPL) was the first of its kind in Europe and has raised over £90 million to date, which has been reinvested into sustainable transport across the city and allowed us to secure inward investment of over £1 billion for transport improvements. The WPL has served as a catalyst for change and transformed Nottingham into a city which is recognised as a pioneer in tackling the climate crisis and urban deprivation. Alongside reducing harmful emissions, the scheme has helped to regenerate neighbourhoods; creating jobs, infrastructure and investment while reducing economic and health deprivation by improving access to employment, education and healthcare services.
The successful candidate will take project management responsibility for establishing, managing and delivering multiple projects within the Innovation & Change team for the Parking service area - including the WPL, Parking Services (on and off-street parking) and Parking Regulation & Compliance teams. This will include project planning, managing delivery schedules, financial management, stakeholder management, project governance, issue and risk management and reporting of programme and project information.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
* Knowledge of project management principles
* Evidence of working successfully in partnership across different sectors, building and maintaining good working relationships
* Knowledge of requirements when working in a commercial environment and the need to cater for customers as part of project delivery
* The ability to plan, organise and prioritise work programmes and to achieve deadlines under pressure
* The ability to be creative, to be able to identify problems and work to create solutions
* Knowledge of, and an interest in, carbon neutral and air quality management initiatives
