Our client is a leading engineering company that manufactures solutions used within a range of sectors. They offer a superb working environment and culture. They are looking for a strong Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team and focus on developing their equipment and other products.
Responsibilities:
1. Mechanical design for the integration of a full range of equipment and other products, using CAD programmes.
2. Compiling parts lists and maintaining drawing records following the strict technical office procedures without deviation.
3. Offering a practical approach – working with our team of assembly and test technicians as required.
4. Creative thinking within cost and time restraints.
5. The ability to work on several projects simultaneously meeting tight deadlines.
6. Respond quickly to internal and external customer requests.
7. Visits to customers’ sites both in the UK and overseas as necessary to gain engineering information.
8. Liaising with customers to ensure adequate flow of information for orders acknowledged, service requirements related to problems, and any other issues as requested.
9. Providing practical and cost-effective solutions to design change and modification for individual order requirements.
10. Controlling the issue level on BOMs within their MRP system, ensuring these follow the agreed descriptor control procedures and methodology accordingly.
11. Liaising with suppliers to obtain quotations using detailed drawings released within the Vault (Engineering Data Management System).
12. Provision of technical support to customers and internal sales/service departments.
13. This may be by telephone, fax, e-mail, and, where required, hands-on in the factory or on-site in the UK/worldwide.
Essential Skills and Experience:
1. Mechanical Engineering degree minimum.
2. Experience of a Design Software (e.g. 2D: AutoCAD, 3D: Inventor, Solid Works, Catia or equivalent).
3. Experience working in a design role (with 8-10 years’ design experience) in an industrial environment.
4. Machinery design (e.g. conveyor systems, bearing, linkages, mechanisms, packaging machinery or other 3-phase machinery).
5. Multi-task with simultaneous projects meeting tight cost and time restraints (often a week or less).
6. Must be free to travel worldwide with no restrictions.
Package: Up to £58,000 with an extremely competitive benefits package including private health cover after probation period.
