My client is a long established, leading Construction and Civil Engineering Consultancy.
The company is continually recognised as a world-class consultant providing engineering, project and programme management, and commercial solutions to their clients within the energy, infrastructure, and governmental sectors.
Providing consistently high results time and time again, they are today supporting many major complex projects and programmes with their skills in commercial and contracts, design and engineering, project delivery, and health, safety, and environmental services.
Due to planned growth and an influx of work in their Northeastern Region, they are looking to appoint, on a permanent or long-term contract basis, a Project Manager to work on a major water sector framework for Northumbrian Water.
The ideal candidate will be based within a commutable distance from the Sunderland area where the company has a tranche of projects and a regional office. There is the potential for 8 years of work in the region as my client has secured a raft of work in the area with this trusted client.
The successful individual will ideally have NEC 3 ECC Project experience and a background in civil engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Management of site staff operatives and sub-contractors.
2. Preparing and monitoring programmes of work.
3. Provide method statements, hazard risk assessments, and project management plans.
4. Understand tender allowances and monitor contract costs against agreed budgets.
5. Manage design co-ordination.
6. Assessment and engagement of sub-contractors.
7. Understand and administer contract change.
8. Inform, consult, and involve local groups as necessary.
9. Foster good relations and reputation with clients.
10. Promote and ensure all work complies with safety, quality, and environmental policies and the requirements of the company procedures.
11. Experienced in people management and motivation of staff.
12. A good organiser, both of self and others with the ability to think in advance.
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK. Due to the nature of the role, a full UK driving license is essential, and the successful candidate will be happy to travel throughout the Southern Region. A First Aid at Work qualification would also be desirable.
Already experienced as a Site Manager / Project Manager, you will have a relevant industry qualification (HND/ HNC/ BEng) or equivalent, an up-to-date SMSTS qualification, and appropriate CSCS card. A First Aid at Work qualification is desirable.
The ideal candidate will have water sector project experience. However, those that can demonstrate a strong background in Civil Engineering projects are likely to be of interest.
