About the Job
As Planning Manager you will be responsible for arranging the delivery of the customer’s product on time and in full using the most cost-effective means and best use of available resources, whilst complying with Transport Legislation and Health & Safety. You will ensure maximisation of the utilisation of the Fleet through efficient planning of deliveries and collections as well as maximised utilisation of Unipart drivers in line with current driver’s hours and WTD legislation. You will also provide analytical insight into the performance of the fleet based on the planning and execution and develop initiatives in parallel.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plan all customer deliveries utilising the software available at site to ensure delivery windows are met.
2. Plan daily workload for a fleet nationally.
3. Implement new operating processes.
4. Develop back haul lanes and support in the planning of supplier collections across the fleet.
5. Source appropriate and cost effective sub-contractors to ensure any additional volume is serviced in line with the contractual arrangement.
6. Complete a late load report in line with operational requirements and deadlines.
7. Ensure loads meet safety standards.
8. Own metrics and performance indicators related to initiatives to measure overall performance and provide foundation for value creation.
9. Communicate in a clear, precise, and regular format with all partners and stakeholders, including ongoing project status reports.
10. Administer flow of information to ensure invoices and claims can be quickly and effectively reconciled.
About You
We’d love you to have the following skills and experience, but please apply if you think you’d be able to perform well in this role!
1. Transport Planning experience.
2. A thorough level of knowledge and experience of road transport regulatory and legislative frameworks is essential and you will ideally be qualified with a Transport Manager CPC - International and a recognised UK H&S qualification.
3. An understanding of Transport and/or Distribution.
4. Experience of working in a busy transport/distribution environment.
5. Excellent communication skills.
6. Experience with SAP – desirable.
7. Knowledge of Transport Legislation, Working Time Directive and Drivers Hours.
