Loughborough University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to lead our dedicated team of engineers in the delivery of complex electrical projects. This role is critical in ensuring the university's electrical infrastructure is designed, maintained, and upgraded to the highest standards. The Principal Electrical Engineer will oversee both High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) systems, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency in all operations. Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for: This role will support the delivery of the University Estates Strategy, through delivery of projects creating new electrical infrastructure as well as improving and replacing the existing systems. Team Leadership:Lead, mentor, and develop a team of four engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.Manage team workload, priorities, and resource allocation to ensure the timely and successful completion of projects. Project Management:Oversee the planning, design, and delivery of electrical projects, including building infrastructure, HV and LV systems, and other related installations.Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external contractors to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with other building services. Technical ExpertiseProvide technical guidance and oversight for all electrical engineering activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.Conduct thorough analysis and risk assessments for electrical systems, implementing solutions to mitigate potential issues.Lead the development and implementation of maintenance programs for HV and LV systems to ensure long-term reliability and safetyCompliance & SafetyEnsure all electrical engineering activities comply with statutory regulations, university policies, and health & safety standards.Lead initiatives to enhance the safety and efficiency of electrical systems, including the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.Stakeholder EngagementLiaise with academic and administrative departments to understand their electrical infrastructure needs and translate them into effective engineering solutions.Present technical reports, project updates, and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders Continuous ImprovementPromote and implement continuous improvement practices within the team and across the university's electrical systems.Keep up to date with the latest developments in electrical engineering, ensuring Loughborough University remains at the forefront of technological advancements.
