We are looking for self-motivated, committed Dietitian to provide a quality dietetic service to the Ipswich and East Suffolk population in the acute sector. You will be a key member of the hospital multidisciplinary nutrition team.
You will be the Nutrition Support lead for the acute dietetic team and work together with others outside the department as part of the Nutrition Steering Group. You will work closely with other senior dietitians to manage a caseload of nutritionally vulnerable inpatients on both the surgical and gastroenterology wards.
The post requires someone with significant experience of enteral and parenteral nutrition. Supplementary prescribing is also required for this post and you would be supported to complete a prescribing qualification if you are not already a prescriber.
You will benefit from working with other specialist dietitians as well as being responsible for day-to-day supervision of assistant practitioners in the team.
A range of skills is required for this post, including excellent communication skills and the ability to manage a busy workload. You should be someone who enjoys working within a team and is eager to provide support to others.
Main duties of the job
* Lead clinical Dietitian for Nutrition Team providing a source of expertise to patients, carers, medical practitioners and allied health professionals and social care professionals as part of the multidisciplinary team.
* To be responsible for delivery of a high quality, evidence based dietetic service to a complex caseload of patients on surgical and other wards as required holding responsibility for defined projects.
* Contribute to ward rounds as part of the nutrition team and provide specialist input for a range of patients including those requiring parenteral and enteral nutrition.
* Supplementary prescribing of parenteral nutrition and associated medications where appropriate.
* Act as department lead for Nutrition Support and develop service including protocols and guidelines underpinned by clinical governance framework.
* To work with and supervise junior staff members within the acute team.

Job responsibilities
The Dietetic Team consists of 26 Dietitians with 6 Dietetic Support Staff providing a service to both acute and community settings. We are also supported by secretarial and administrative staff. You will have access to regular supervision and have opportunities to undertake continuing professional development through work shadowing, tutorials and courses as identified by your training needs and objectives.
We are a well-recognised department for student training in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire and you will have an active role in supporting this programme. The trust is also committed with AHP research and has recently gained resources to support this within the trust.

* Registration with Health Professions Council
* Member of British Dietetic Association
* Evidence of other post registration education and training/CPD e.g. PENG, counselling skills to expert level or evidence of significant experience in specialty area

* Significant post-registration experience in a range of clinical areas.
* Experience of working in critical care unit.
* Significant experience with enterally fed patients.

* Portfolio of evidence of CPD.
* Experience of home enteral tube feeding.
* Experience in management of patients receiving Home Parenteral Nutrition.
Knowledge
