Role: Lead Resource Teacher of the Deaf (Mainstream Primary with Deaf Provision)
Salary: £200.00 - £280.00 per day plus SEN Allowance (dependent on experience)The ideal candidate will have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and mandatory qualifications as a Teacher of the Deaf (ToD).
Proven experience in teaching deaf students in a mainstream or specialist setting, with leadership or coordination experience (desirable).
Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) or experience working with signing systems (desirable).
A strong understanding of the needs of deaf learners, including the use of assistive technologies such as hearing aids and radio aids.
Excellent leadership and organisational skills to oversee the school’s deaf provision and guide staff.
The ability to support students’ academic, language, and social development while fostering inclusion within the mainstream curriculum.Key Responsibilities:
Take the lead in managing the school’s deaf provision, ensuring outstanding support for students with hearing impairments.
Teach and provide specialised support to deaf students, enabling them to access the mainstream curriculum.
Oversee the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), working closely with the SENCO, parents/carers, and external professionals.
Provide training and guidance to mainstream staff to ensure effective communication strategies and inclusive practices.
Monitor and evaluate the progress of deaf students, maintaining high expectations for achievement and well-being.
Lead on the use of assistive technologies and ensure their effective implementation.
