Role/ Department:
Relationship Management (Asset Owners) which includes Corporate and Public DB schemes, DC Pension Schemes and other pension fund consolidators, will have oversight and accountability for client management and all, internal and external, related activities to their designated clients. Working closely with the Country Head on engagement with clients and management to ensure alignment and connectivity on all matters. Northern Trust is the largest asset servicing partner to the corporate and public pension funds sectors. This role presents an opportunity to join a market leading team which continues to experience material growth in high profile clients.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
* Effective management of designated client relationships
* Revenue growth across designated client relationships
* Strategic planning and execution, in coordination with European Senior Team, of market facing and internal initiatives
* Regulatory and process diligence on all matters
1. Client Management
The Asset Owner Relationship Manager is responsible for managing, retaining and growing their allocated relationships across our most sophisticated clients in the region. Therefore a broad understanding of client and business management is required. The primary areas of client management include:
* Implement, and oversee the implementation, of best practice client governance
* Lead and influence strategic engagement with key clients
* Oversight of client service delivery and accountability for overall client satisfaction of your allocated clients
* Be accountable for the management of the client profitability of your allocated clients
* Responsible for all retention and rebid activity of your allocated clients
* Responsible for revenue growth and effective pipeline management of your allocated clients
2. Business Development
The Asset Owner Relationship Manager is responsible for working with the Senior European Management Team, business development team and broader client team in building the business for the long term across a broad spectrum of products, segments and business lines. Therefore strong business development skills and disciplines are important. The main areas of business development responsibility include:
* Develop existing client relationships across multiple products/services
* Manage new business activities/rebids in the context of market and industry impact and business profitability
* Oversee effective pipeline management across all relevant opportunities
* Champion individual client requirements in the context of new product and service needs
* Input into direct marketing and PR activities to build local brand through events, seminars, conferences
3. Strategic planning
The Asset Owner Relationship Manager will work in partnership with the Senior European Management Team and have input into developing and executing the regional strategy across different client segments, products and services. They have 4 primary areas of strategic planning:
* Support and input into the development of a strategy which understands the impact of market change/regulation to business and creates opportunities
* Lead the execution of the strategy for the region across relevant segments and business activities
* Understand client needs and impact on Northern Trusts operating model/business structure
* Identify trends and input into forward looking product development requirements
4. Regulatory Oversight
The primary areas of regulatory oversight include:
* Adhere to local regulatory/market policies and procedures
* Implement regulatory change across clients/business lines where appropriate
* Comply with corporate risk management policies and practices
* Execute AML, KYC, compliance checks and controls
* Participate in the development and implementation of best practice process and procedures for key functions.
Skills/ Qualifications:
* Knowledge of pension fund industry and/or investments and/or knowledge of trust and asset services is required to promote the bank and its products
* Skills in negotiation, delegation, and sales are necessary to service the client relationship
* Leadership and organizational skills are required to develop periodic goals and to manage and motivate team members towards the goals set
* Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
* Highly flexible and adaptable to change
