Salary: £25,000 – £28,000 a year, depending on experience
Hours: 40 hours a week, Monday – Friday: 09:00 – 17:15

The Challenge…
As an Assistant Accountant, you’ll work closely with the Management Accountant and Finance Controller to support the smooth running of our finance function.
You will be responsible for:
* Process hourly payroll and reconcile control accounts using SAGE 50 payroll
* Handle general ledger cashbook postings and multi-company bank reconciliations, including intercompany transactions.
* Support prepayments, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations with the Management Accountant.
* Oversee expenses, credit card functions, and transaction processing in QuickBooks.
* Assist sales and purchase ledger functions, resolving complex queries and reconciling supplier statements.
* Provide holiday cover for team members across sales and purchase ledger roles.
* Contribute to implementing new technologies and systems in the finance function.
* Lead or support ad hoc tasks and projects for the Management Accountant and Financial Controller.

What we are looking for…
* A detail-oriented and accurate Assistant Accountant
* Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including double entry and standards.
* 5+ years’ experience in an accounts department or a standalone role.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills, capable of balancing priorities and supporting the team during busy periods.
* Self-motivated, proactive, and able to collaborate across multiple sites.
* Adaptable and responsive to dynamic business needs.
* Positive, eager to learn, and committed to personal and team development.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with a mindset for continuous improvement.
You’ll really hit the ground running if you have…
* Previous experience in the commercial vehicles and vehicle rental industry
* Experience of using Microsoft Dynamics GP, Business Central and Quickbooks
* Fully Qualified AAT
