Job summary We are looking for a suitably qualified doctor with a strong desire to work in our department alongside our existing team of experienced and enthusiastic Consultants, nurses and administrative teams The post is part of the middle grade Rota so candidates must have at least two years post-registration experience in anesthetics which has regular contact with critically ill patients, of which at least 6 months should be at ST3/CT3 level or above. You will work alongside our existing team of 9 Consultants and 10 Clinical Fellows and other members of the multi-disciplinary team. Essex cardiothoracic centre ITU admits cardiac, thoracic surgical and cardiology patients. Critical care unit has successfully implemented the targeted temperature management protocol for post cardiac arrest patients. As well as a great clinical experience, opportunities exist for training/experience in other areas of interest such as echocardiography, bronchoscopy and education. Attend and assist at Outpatients clinics taking responsibility to facilitate their efficient running. Clinic letters must be dictated promptly. Punctuality and accurate documentation is paramount. Make formal ward rounds daily including at weekends and bank holidays when on-call. These rounds should be considered a teaching opportunity. Daily review of responsible Consultant's patients and clear communication with the Consultant. Participate in multi-disciplinary clinical meetings and monthly Clinical Audit Day. As part of the Directorate Team, assist in the cost-effectiveutilizationof resources, including items such as equipment and drugs. Organize (where required) and participate in out of hours cover for the unit. On-call responsibilities include: Night time supervision of care of surgical patients including those in the High Dependency Unit and the Intensive Care Unit. You will be required to communicate appropriately with the Consultants regarding the management of patients. Weekend on-call responsibilities including ward rounds and participation in emergency operations and assessment of in-patients as well as external referrals. Advise on the discharge of patients under the care of the cardiothoracic surgical Consultants.
