What will you be doing?
Key Responsibilities
* Develop customer-centric messaging strategies that support proactive, consistent, and impactful communications.
* Direct demand reduction and awareness initiatives through smart metering, CRM, and digital engagement campaigns.
* Implement customer sentiment tracking across all touchpoints to inform and refine communication approaches.
* Establish and monitor KPIs to measure the effectiveness and impact of communication campaigns.
* Leverage data and insights to refine communication strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
* Develop and lead Portsmouth Water’s marketing, communications, and brand strategy, ensuring a consistent and impactful presence across all channels.
* Strengthen corporate communications and PR efforts, enhancing Portsmouth Water’s reputation and public perception.
* Oversee stakeholder engagement, ensuring effective communication with regulators, policymakers, media, and community partners.
* Create, review, and implement crisis communications strategies with rapid response protocols to protect the company’s reputation.
* Oversee crisis and incident communications, ensuring clear, transparent, and timely messaging.
* Ensure brand consistency across all platforms, including corporate identity, uniforms and digital channels.
* Enhance Portsmouth Water’s digital presence, including management of the website, social media, and customer portals.
* Build and maintain positive relationships with media, regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and community partners.
* Identify and engage strategic partners to strengthen communication reach and effectiveness.
* Develop communication materials for key customer programmes such as smart metering and water efficiency.
* Create internal campaigns that align employees with Portsmouth Water’s vision, values, and strategic priorities.
* Drive a proactive PR strategy to enhance public perception and media engagement.
* Provide strategic communication advice and insights to the executive team.

Skills, Qualifications & Competencies
* Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and empower a diverse team to deliver impactful results.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adaptable to varied audiences and platforms.
* Demonstrated expertise in strategic brand management, corporate communications, and public relations.
* Proven ability to manage crisis communications and coordinate with emergency response teams.
* Proficiency in digital marketing, datacentric strategy development, and enhancing customer engagement through digital channels.
* Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory frameworks within the utilities sector.
* Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related discipline.
* A minimum of 8 years in a senior marketing and communications role, with demonstrated leadership experience.
* Extensive experience within the utilities sector (water sector preferred), with a focus on customer communications in highly regulated environments.
* Proven track record of building and executing communication strategies that drive customer engagement and align with organisational goals.
