Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Practitioner Psychologist, or a clinician eligible to become one, to join and lead a flourishing psychology and psychological therapy service and provide excellent professional and clinical leadership within East Sussex Mental Health Services.
The role is to lead Psychology and Psychological Therapies in adult mental health services in Hastings and Rother. Our adult mental health services are provided within a large multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment service based in the centre of Hastings overlooking the sea. We are currently transitioning to two Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams covering the area which the successful candidate would be supporting us in doing.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will work as part of a multi-professional leadership and governance team to contribute strategically and operationally to the leadership, governance and development of the broader MDT service as well as the Psychological Professions. We are looking for someone with vision and energy - a good communicator and team player who is able to positively influence and shape services in the context of national drivers. Our successful candidate will evidence their abilities to positively engage clinical staff to draw out the best of their strengths and skills, to hold people to account and ensure that our service meets the highest quality standards. We seek someone with recovery-focused values who has consultant-level skills, knowledge and experience in working with complex mental health problems in a focused, evidence based, timely way.
Working for our organisation
The post-holder will contribute clinically to the service, within their specialist field or skill-set. There will be a particular focus on providing consultation, supervision and clinical review of complex cases. We also anticipate that Psychologists working at this level share their specialist skills and interests across East Sussex and contribute to service developments across our services as appropriate.
The successful candidate will become part of a Sussex-wide group of consultant psychologists/psychological therapists leading adult and older adult psychology and psychological therapy services, providing peer support and guidance. Within East Sussex, they will have a group of peers who meet regularly for shared working and support.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join and lead an experienced group of 12 psychological professionals of all levels. We see ourselves as working together in a very cohesive and creative way.
