We are seeking a dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join group of GP federation in Leicester - LE1 - LE5 post code. The Healthcare Assistant will provide essential support to medical professionals and ensure the well-being of patients. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others and contribute to the healthcare field. Principal Responsibilities: Phlebotomy duties. To take and, where appropriate, despatch laboratory specimens including blood, urine, swabs and other diagnostic tests as required by GPs. Making sure they are ready for collection by the designated collection time, or alternatively storing them in the fridge for next day collection. Setting up the ECG machine to take ECGs and making sure that they have been analysed by a GP. Carrying out blood pressure checks as well as fitting and removal of the 24 hour blood pressure monitor. To prepare the examination areas and instruments and to assist the GPs in minor operations, coil fittings and other clinics. To advise patients on health care, minor ailments, health promotion and illness prevention. To support the nursing team in:- Antenatal clinics, Diabetic clinics, Smoking Cessation clinics, CHD clinics, Healthy eating and weight management, Flu clinics, Minor operations, Coil and Implant clinics To undertake basic wound care and suture/clip removal, assisting the nurses. To undertake NHS Health checks To share supervisory responsibilities with the Practice Nurses if appropriate for the management of the treatment room, stock control and ordering of drugs, leaflets and medical supplies. To ensure that all medical equipment is regularly and adequately maintained and in date and ensure that all clinical rooms are adequately stocked with medical equipment etc. To maintain high standards of tidiness, hygiene and safety in the use of all equipment and areas of work, in line with the Practice Health and Safety policy, Infection Control Policy as well as all other Practice policies and procedures. To liaise with and communicate effectively with other members of the Primary Health Care Team. Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology and accurately document patient information Adhere to aseptic techniques to prevent infection transmission Skills: - Strong understanding of physiology and its application in patient care - Proficient in phlebotomy techniques for blood collection - Ability to catheterize patients as required - Knowledge of basic life support techniques for emergency situations - Excellent grasp of medical terminology for accurate documentation - Experience working with paediatric patients, providing age-appropriate care - Skilled in maintaining aseptic technique to prevent infection transmission - Previous experience working in a GP surgery setting is preferred - System One trained We offer competitive pay rate - Paid Via PAYE, Self-Employed or Limited company Job Types: Full-time, Part-time Pay: £13.00-£14.50 per hour Expected hours: Up to 40 per week Benefits: On-site parking Referral programme Schedule: 8-10 hour shift Day shift Monday to Saturday Experience: Phlebotomy: 1 year (required) Work Location: In person Reference ID: HCA - 12354 ADZN1_UKTJ
