Job summary We are looking to recruit a staff nurse to join our small team of n SACT nurses who deliver systemic anticancer therapies on site in the Macmillan Cancer Unit at Leighton Hospital. You must be flexible to meet the needs of our service and be able to work flexibly between the hours of 8am and 8pm. The Unit is currently open Monday to Friday though some weekend working is anticipated in the future as our service expands to deliver more SACT closer to home. This is a role where you can learn and develop new skills whilst working within a supportive environment. We deliver SACT to patients who are undergoing treatment for haematological cancers and solid tumours and work with a number of visiting Oncologists from tertiary centres such as The Christie and the University Hospitals of North Midlands. We receive excellent feedback from our patients about the level of care we provide. This post is to cover Maternity leave. Main duties of the job The successful applicant must have good communication skills and work well as part of a small team. Previous experience of working with cancer patients or within a cancer setting is essential. You will have experience of current chemotherapy administration and you must have completed the degree level module for Chemotherapy administration or SACT passport. You must have experience in cannulation, accessing CVAD's, phlebotomy and have the confidence to administer chemotherapy under nurse-led protocols.
