Job Title: Residential Childcare Worker

Job Overview:
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Residential Childcare Workers to join our team. The role involves providing high-quality care, support, and guidance to children and young people in a residential care setting. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in helping young people develop essential life skills, independence, and self-confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct care and supervision to children and young people in line with their individual care plans.
Support young people in their daily routines, including education, leisure activities, and personal development.
Assist in the promotion of a safe, nurturing, and structured environment.
Encourage children to develop self-help, independence, and social skills.
Implement and adhere to safeguarding policies to ensure the well-being and protection of children.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports.
Communicate effectively with children, colleagues, families, and other professionals.
Support children with learning disabilities and/or challenging behaviour where necessary.
Participate in outings, holidays, and activities with the children.
Undertake sleep-in duties, evening shifts, weekends, and school holiday shifts as required.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
Experience working with children and young people in a care setting.
Experience in a children’s residential care environment.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
Relevant professional qualification in childcare or social care.
Experience working with children with learning disabilities and/or challenging behaviour.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:
Essential:
Understanding of the needs and challenges of the client group.
Commitment to safeguarding children and equal opportunities.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
The ability to engage with and support young people effectively.
The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English.
Desirable:
Understanding of policies and procedures in a residential care setting.
A skill or hobby that would be beneficial for children’s development.
Ability to drive a centre vehicle with a willingness to do so.
Other Requirements:
Enhanced DBS check plus Children’s Barred List clearance.
Willingness and availability to work evenings, weekends, school holidays, and overnight stays.
Must be at least 21 years old.
