Job summary We are recruiting for a Clinical Psychologist for the Community Mental Health Service and Acute Team on the Isle of Wight. You will provide a high-quality specialist Psychology service to patients and carers who are referred to Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) and Acute Team, and to assist colleagues across the Services in the management of people with complex mental health needs where appropriate. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out psychometric assessment, psychological assessments and provide specialist advice as appropriate. You will attend referral meetings and help identify appropriate treatment options and pathways for referrals and will offer advice and consultation on service user's psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues, as well as to other non-professional carers and workers of other agencies where appropriate. You will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team and Trust's policies and procedures. The post holder will utilise research skills for audit, policy and research within the area served by the teams / service, agree, in conjunction with Psychological Services, the appropriate utilisation of psychological resources to the teams, and contribute to the provision of team services and fulfilment of team priorities and objectives. Main duties of the job The post holder will assist the Consultant Psychologist and Principal Clinical Psychologist by providing supervision to Assistant Psychologists and Psychological Therapists and supporting the development of treatment pathways. To assess and treat a specialist caseload of patients, including carrying out direct specialist one-to-one and group consultations/therapy, co-ordinating specialist clinics, attending professional meetings and reviews as relevant, and updating/maintaining patient and associated records. To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological intervention and/or management of mental health/psychological and/or behavioural difficulties based upon an appropriate conceptual framework and exercising expert clinical judgement based on the highest standards of evidence-based practice across a full range of care settings. To clinically supervise less experienced psychologists and psychological therapists (e.g. Assistant Psychologists and Psychological Therapists), counsellors or other professionals. To co-ordinate the provision of a systematic specialist psychology service of a high quality to the patients of the multidisciplinary team, across all sectors of care.
