St James Surgery located in Clacton is looking for a healthcare assistant (HCA) to join the practice in this vital patient-facing role with both clinical and administrative responsibilities. The role is to be based across two sites and is offered on a full-time basis, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. There are additional hours available for our PCN extended hours on a Saturday. Main duties of the role: Wound care, venepuncture, phlebotomy checks and administering of medicines and vaccines. Ensure that all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session. Update patient health records. Ensure that medical supplies are in stock. Act as a chaperone where required. Communicate with patients, relatives, and carers including providing valuable health promotion and education. New patient health checks. About the Candidate All applicants should have the following skills and experience: Experience within primary care or another healthcare setting is preferred. Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills. Consistently confidential manner, as well as a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues. Ability to work independently and determine own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Strong organisational and time management skills. About Us We are a large, friendly hardworking surgery with our main surgery located in Clacton and a branch in St Osyth. We are a EMIS Web practice with a patient list size of 14,400 patients.
