Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Assistant to provide essential support in various aspects of daily living for individuals in need of assistance. This role is specific to a resident with an acquired brain injury, who has challenging behaviour. He is a sweet soul with a loving family and little girl who visit. Due to his condition, we are looking for individuals with experience of challenging behaviours, and either trained in PMVA or willing to be trained (Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression).
Duties
* Assist client with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and safety.
* Assist nurses with medication administration as per prescribed guidelines.
* Support client with personal hygiene and grooming tasks.
* Engage client in meaningful activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
* Monitor and document changes in client behaviour or health status.
* Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.
* Maintain a clean and organised environment for client.
* Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance the client's quality of life.
Requirements
* Proven experience in patient care, preferably within nursing homes or assisted living settings.
* Strong skills in behaviour management to effectively support clients with challenging behaviours.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
* A compassionate approach with a strong commitment to providing high-quality care.
* Relevant qualifications or certifications in health care or related fields are advantageous but not mandatory.
