Description HR Consultant – Career Families Project | 7930 | Fixed Term Contract until 31 March 2027 | 37 hours per week | £42,463 to £46,732 per annum (Scale K) | County Hall We are looking for an HR Consultant with strong organisational design, systems thinking and ideally career families experience to join the People Projects team here at Norfolk County Council. Career families is an exciting two-year project to build capability in our HR system and related processes to support career progression and skills development across the organisation. It will deliver improved learning and development opportunities, and underpin talent management activity, with the overall goal of supporting our most important asset, our people, to realise their potential. The core focus of the role will be to take ownership of the career families project and manage a plan of activity to achieve the agreed deliverables within two years. You’ll be a subject matter expert on everything related to career families, providing high level advice and guidance, and a structured approach to delivering the project. It’s a large-scale, high-profile project, and you’ll need to be able to build strong relationships with stakeholders, process and evaluate complex information, coach and mentor managers and colleagues, and influence decisions. It’s an exciting, dynamic role leading a project which will bring real benefits to everyone working at Norfolk County Council. To be considered for the role, you’ll need significant demonstrable experience working in an HR/OD role, and ideally, you’ll have some exposure to career families or similar initiatives. In addition, you’ll need: A strong knowledge of job grading and organisational design. You’ll know all about Korn Ferry and will be able to look at the bigger picture in terms of how teams and departments are structured. Excellent HR system knowledge. If you have used Oracle HCM before that would be a bonus, but you’ll need to be comfortable translating business needs into systems functionality. Experience in a large and complex environment. A positive and proactive approach, first class communications skills, and the ability to challenge, influence, coach and mentor at a senior level. Experience of talent management and/or learning and development would be beneficial too.
