This is a new role to the CAMHS inpatient team, so you'll have the opportunity to really make an impact .
To reflect the core functions/four pillars of a Consultant Nurse:
• An expert practice/clinical function
• A professional leadership and consultancy function
• An education training and development function
• A practice and service development, research, and evaluation function
To undertake the role of Approved Clinician for an identified client group - CAMHS in-patinets
• Responsible for the care and treatment of mentally disordered people
compulsorily detained under the Mental Health Act.
• Responsible for the assessment of all levels of clinical risk within an evidence based framework
• Responsible for undertaking mental health assessments incorporating biological,
psychological, cultural, and social perspectives
• Responsible for leading formulation, review, and treatment within the context of
the multi-disciplinary team
• Responsible for compiling and completing statutory documentation and providing
written AC reports under the Mental Health Act
• Accountable for own professional practice in the delivery of highly specialist
nursing care to clients with severe and enduring mental health conditions or
learning disabilities which include psychiatric, physical, and social co-morbidity
and significant challenging behaviours with risk of physical aggression.
• To support the development and implementation of the Trust wide Nursing
Strategy influencing the development of nursing education within the organisation
and nationally via higher education institutions. Developing, devising, and
delivering training programs within the locality that promotes the profession,
