Newport, UK, United Kingdom | Supply Chain & Logistics Job Description We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to join our Supply Chain Team. In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders at all levels. Leading the sourcing of materials, goods and services for the organisation, you'll drive added value through sourcing strategically, seeking best commercial value, delivery and service. As a key player in the procurement process, you will work closely with the SCM and SC Team to ensure a seamless supply chain. The successful candidate will be joining the company at an interesting time. Strong in Negotiation & proficient in Contract Management, this role will contribute towards Business objectives. Analyse Material Costs, Support Key Audits, and maintain documentation/procedures/policies. Develop & Manage Supplier Performance scorecards, and support Materials Team commercially upon escalation. This role will assist SCM in driving overall Procurement Strategy (locally), and will work closely on developing tools to supplement a cyclical market (Risk Management). Key Responsibilities: Supplier Sourcing & Management: Identify, evaluate, and establish strong relationships with new and existing suppliers to meet the company’s needs for raw materials, components, and services. Cost Optimization: Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to achieve cost-effective procurement solutions without compromising quality. Continuously evaluate cost-saving opportunities and implement best practices for procurement efficiency. Inventory Management: Collaborate with key stakeholders to setup commercial deals to best suit business requirements. Supplier Performance Management & Tracking: Monitor and assess supplier performance, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, quality, and cost efficiency. Work with suppliers to address any performance issues. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate supply chain risks such as Single Sourced, material shortages, supplier delays, or disruptions. Ensure continuity of supply to prevent production downtime. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, quality control, engineering, and finance teams to align procurement activities with production needs and overall business objectives. Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, regulatory standards, and industry best practices. Maintain accurate records and documentation for all procurement transactions. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain / Procurement or similar business profession. CIPS qualified is desired Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Semi-Conductor Experience is a bonus. Proven experience in negotiating with suppliers, managing Supplier relationships, and handling purchase orders. Skills & Abilities: Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Knowledge of procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., Dynamics NAV, SAP, Oracle, or similar tools). Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities. Understanding of manufacturing processes and inventory management techniques.
