Technologist - Environmental Monitoring
Location: Witney, Oxfordshire
THE OPPORTUNITY:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Technologist to join our manufacturing and R&D facility in Witney, West Oxfordshire. Working in a small and friendly team, you will ensure that cleanroom monitoring activities are completed to maintain the sterility assurance level in our Witney manufacturing facility.
The Environmental Monitoring Group performs regular microbial monitoring of cleanrooms, products, and utilities to ensure compliance with ISO 8 cleanroom standards. The team reviews and investigates trends, champions cleanroom best practices, and assesses changes to cleaning and gowning procedures.
In this role, you will perform routine environmental monitoring of cleanrooms, including air, surface, and compressed air sampling. You will conduct particle counts, microbial sampling, and other tests to assess cleanroom conditions. Accurate documentation and reporting of findings are essential, as you will maintain detailed records of all monitoring activities. Ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other regulatory standards is a key responsibility. You will collaborate with production and quality assurance teams to address any deviations or issues.
Additionally, you will calibrate and maintain monitoring equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results. Participation in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support, is also required. You will assist in the development and implementation of cleanroom protocols and procedures and train and mentor manufacturing personnel on cleanroom best practices.
ABOUT YOU:
You should have a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific subject or equivalent experience in an ISO cleanroom environment. Candidates with strong secondary education and industry experience in an ISO cleanroom environment are encouraged to apply.
This is an ideal role for candidates with a strong secondary education in science or higher who would like to start a career in industrial science. Industry experience in an ISO cleanroom environment is preferable but not essential as full training will be provided.
Excellent attention to detail, a logical and methodical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to prioritize and adapt to changing circumstances or new demands are essential. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to build relationships with colleagues across various departments.
Hands-on practical skills or the ability to develop them are important, as you will spend time in the manufacturing facility. Good IT skills, including proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, are also required.
