Interior Design Technician / Middle Weight Designer Global Hotel Brand
About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Interior Design Technician / Middle Weight Designer to join our London-based Head Office team. This full-time role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to YOTELs global growth, working closely with the Director of Interior Design to deliver projects across our three brands: YOTEL, YOTELAIR, and YOTELPAD.
As part of the Technical Services team, youll play a vital role in preparing and coordinating technical design information while ensuring consistency with YOTELs distinctive brand identity.
To qualify for this role, candidates must have a minimum of 3 years' post-graduate experience in hospitality interior design / technical design, supported by a strong portfolio showcasing expertise across successful hospitality projects. Demonstrable technical knowledge, including interior detailing and material specifications, is highly advantageous.
While the role demands a high level of technical proficiency and design experience, it is worth noting YOTEL is not a design studio. This is a unique opportunity for an interior technician / mid-level designer to transition in-house with a leading global hotel brand and operator.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as a YOTEL Brand Guardian, ensuring projects align with brand standards.
* Report to and support the Director of Interior Design across various tasks, including feasibility reviews, property improvement plans, and minor Capex design work.
* Assist with schematic designs, material and furniture sourcing, supplier coordination, drafting drawings, creating 3D visuals, and preparing presentations.
* Review external consultants information to ensure it aligns with proposals and YOTEL Brand Standards.
* Participate in design review workshops and meetings.
Technical Drawing and Design:
* Produce detailed CAD drawings, 2D & 3D visualisations (using Archicad, SketchUp and Photoshop) to a presentation standard.
* Not compulsory but BIM software experience is preferable.
* Prepare technical drawings, including elevations, sections, joinery details, and associated schedules.
* Specify and select appropriate hospitality furniture and finishes, ensuring alignment with brand standards and project requirements on a global scale.
* Prepare design presentations for key stakeholders under the direction of the Interior Design Director.
* Ensure designs comply with accessibility, local planning codes, and hospitality-specific regulations on a global scale.
Project Coordination:
* Support the Interior Design Director and Technical Services teams across new developments, conversions, renovations, Capex and feasibility studies.
* Update Brand Standards biannually, including manuals, specifications, and region-specific requirements.
* Review designs, shop fit drawings and external consultants information at all stages for conformity with brand standards and provide technical input during value engineering processes.
* Assist with snagging processes, post-opening design reviews, and property improvement plans.
Collaboration and Communication:
* Work closely with internal stakeholders, external consultants, and contractors to coordinate design deliverables.
* Develop and present mood boards, reports, and presentations for internal teams, owners, and developers (InDesign and Photoshop experience required).
* Attend design review workshops, meetings, and industry events to ensure YOTEL stays at the forefront of hospitality design innovation.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Minimum 3 years post-graduate experience as a CAD Technician or Interior Designer, within hospitality interior design.
* A recognised Interior Design or equivalent degree.
* Experience of all aspects of hotel Interior Design working to the RIBA Workstages.
* Proficiency in Archicad.
* Not compulsory but BIM software experience is preferable.
* Strong technical design skills, including FF&E and finishes specification.
* A portfolio demonstrating expertise across successful hospitality projects, including detailed design packages.
* Knowledge of accessibility, planning codes, and technical requirements for hospitality interior design.
* Proficiency in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Proficiency in Sketch-Up.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
* Commercially minded, proactive, and eager to learn.
