1. To provide and maintain a high standard of care based upon and reflecting the Trust values to patients.
2. Contribute significantly toward the strategic and operational development of the Renal Day Case Unit.
3. Deputise for the Unit Manager in his/her absence across the full range of management responsibilities.
4. Lead in a specific area of ward practice, as agreed, making recommendations, coordinating projects and developing practice guidelines and policies based upon robust evidence, gained from risk assessment, audit and literature review.
5. Promote effective communication and teamwork at all levels.
6. Demonstrate clinical leadership skills and evidence of specialist knowledge.
7. Develop, manage and monitor the performance of a team of nurses, ensuring that the highest standards of care and safety are achieved and maintained at all times. Be professionally accountable for assessment of the patients' needs, and the development, implementation and evaluation of planned care, demonstrating a collaborative approach through effective communication and decision-making between the multi-professional team, patients and significant others.
8. Demonstrate expert knowledge and skills in the management of the changing health care needs of the patient, responding to changes promptly and appropriately and developing specialised plans of care, following relevant protocols in collaboration with other senior nurses and medical staff.
