Applicants with cardiac theatre experience due to the highly specialised nature of the role.
Cardiac surgery is a very fast paced, often challenging, but very rewarding speciality to work in. We cover Paediatric, Adolescent & Adult patients. We specialise in congenital and acquired cardiac conditions and treatments. One day we could be operating on a 1-day old 1kg neonate, the next day an 85year old adult, so no two days are ever the same. We are a multidisciplinary speciality and work alongside our colleagues in cardiac catheter labs, paediatric cardiac hybrid theatre, MRI and ICU areas in providing care for our patients. We work flexibly across anaesthetics and scrub as well as between our adult and paediatric areas.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a forward thinking, resilient member of staff who wishes to consolidate their cardiac scrub skills and expertise, as well as being an individual with a high level of communication and interpersonal skills. You should be flexible, well organised and able to meet the challenges of a busy and diverse team.
You will be responsible for providing perioperative care to patients undergoing cardiac procedures. As well as being involved in service development, standard setting and clinical assurance.
The service is 24 hours and covers days, nights, weekends and Bank Holidays
For all new starters to the Trust, we have an award winning, structured Introduction to Professional Practice (IPP) Induction programme to prepare you for working at LTHT. We also have a 6-month Preceptorship framework to support you in your new role, which incorporates further education sessions and support forums and clinical supervision. On a team level we also offer all newcomers a mentor to assist adjusting to your new role and support you in your first few months in the team.
