An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Consultant Psychiatrist in this new post dedicated to Perinatal Psychiatry in North Cumbria following a consultant retirement. The successful candidate will join the dynamic multidisciplinary team, established 6 years ago, providing senior medical input to the team, holding two weekly outpatient clinics at various sites in North Cumbria.
Main duties of the job
You will work with the multidisciplinary team, hold weekly outpatient clinics assessing direct referrals from G.P.'s, Psychiatrists and Obstetricians, or from the CPN's in the Perinatal Team. You will provide or ensure referral to the appropriate service for the provision of up-to-date evidence-based interventions. Additionally, you will assess and make recommendations under the Mental Health Act (Section 12(2) approved) and act as a Responsible Clinician for detained patients.
You will have your own office space and will be supported by a medical assistant and/or medical secretary. This is a part time post; however, we would be happy to support candidates to carry out additional sessions with the community team.
Qualifications & Training
Essential
* MBBS (or equivalent)
* MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
* Registered as a Specialist in Psychiatry on GMC Specialist Register (or are eligible for such inclusion) or within six months of gaining CCT
* Approved under section 12 (2) of the Mental Health Act or equivalent, or willing and eligible to apply for approval
* Approved Clinician status
Desirable
* Another post-graduate qualification (other than MRCPsych)
* Specialist training in Perinatal Mental Health
Experience
Essential
* Prior experience of providing clinical care for women in the perinatal period
* Experience of multidisciplinary team working
* Experience of community-oriented services for people with severe mental illness
* Experience of undertaking audit and applying findings to improve patient care
Desirable
* Wide clinical experience of Perinatal Psychiatry both in an inpatient and community
* Experience of multiagency work, especially with user, carer and voluntary organisations
* Experience in service management development
