About the Role:
We are looking for a dynamic, motivated, and collaborative person to join our team. The Global Technical Manager role is responsible for building and nurturing essential technical relationships with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Ship Owners/Operators, Customers, Industry Bodies and other stakeholders. You will be part of the business team involved in developing and implementing the product line strategy, through your day-to-day management of projects to ensure products are tested and approved to OEM specifications or customer requirements, in a timely manner. Your role will directly impact the overall market positioning, competitiveness and success of the Large Engine business.
Reporting Line: Global Business Director, Large Engines
Location: Flexible, remote China, Asia, UK, Europe, with travel / time to Richful (HQ in Xinxiang, China)
Responsibilities:
* Build and maintain solid technical relationships with stakeholders across the value chain
* Build strong relationships with major large engine OEMs, understand and translate, both current and future engine developments into actionable information for the business and technology teams
* Identify ship owners that have suitable vessels and build relationships that enable additive technologies to be tested in real world conditions and enable those vessels to be used to test lubricants to meet OEM approval procedures
* Co-ordinate engine testing and ship trial activities
* Provide timely technical services to sales and customers, including customer visits, presentations, training and technical support
* Represent the company at Industry Groups, Associations, Working Groups and Forums, garnering insight and advocating for additive/lubricant views
* Coordinate with cross-functional teams such as R&D, Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain and Operations to ensure overall aligned execution of ship trial projects
* Understand Market Insights, translate and communicate to support and guide future product development strategy
* Support the business, providing technical insight with Marketing to develop marketing campaigns, for both internal and external communications aimed at promoting products, educating the market and advocate on industry matters
Experience:
* Marine, Automotive or Engineering Degree, or 10+ year’s experience in a related Industry sector
* Industry experience / background:
* Industry experience: preferably 5+ years (ideally multi-functional) within the marine, large engine (Marine, Stationary Gas, Railroad), automotive, specialty chemicals, lubricant, or adjacent industry
* Strong background: in understanding, translating and communicating complex technical developments across a broad range of functions. Sound problem solving skills
* Business Acumen: Ability to make sound business decisions that benefit our relationships with stakeholders.
* Communication:
* Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with technical and non-technical peers, across functions, cultures, organisations and different levels
* Good level of negotiating and influencing skills
* Team Player: able to lead cross-functional matrix teams across organisations, where necessary, to effectively execute projects in the most timely and cost effective manner
* Product Knowledge: Good understanding of the technical aspects of the products they are testing
