Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join schools in the Newton Abbot area. This role is ideal for individuals with a genuine desire to make a positive impact on young learners' lives.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators) to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and other learning challenges.
Responsibilities:
* Providing one-to-one or small-group support to pupils with SEN to help them access their learning.
* Assisting teachers in the planning and delivery of tailored educational activities.
* Promoting positive behaviour and creating a safe, inclusive learning environment.
* Supporting the social, emotional, and academic development of pupils.
* Implementing strategies to manage behaviour and address individual learning needs effectively.
* Collaborating with teachers, parents, and external professionals to monitor and report on pupil progress.
Qualifications:
* Experience working with children is essential—this could be in a school, childcare, or youth work setting.
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach with the ability to build strong relationships with children.
* Knowledge of SEN and strategies for supporting pupils with additional needs (desirable but not essential, as training can be provided).
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* A valid DBS check on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
