Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent, MHA administrator to join the Manchester MHA team. The post-holder will be required to cover MHA offices within the Trust's footprint.
The post-holder will need to be a self-motivated individual with administration experience and preferably knowledge of the MHA or a desire to learn.
The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving and scrutinising MHA documents and undertaking other MHA related tasks.
The post is in a very busy team and the post-holder will need to be able to prioritise and work to deadlines.
Main duties of the job
To undertake the administrative aspects of the implementation of the Mental Health Act (MHA) and Deprivation of Liberty (DoLS), including, where necessary, supporting those responsible for the implementation of the Act. Also to ensure that the necessary support is in place to enable the MHA Hospital Managers to carry out their statutory duties ensuring best practice is developed and maintained throughout the organisation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

* Pay Enhancements – 30% additional for Evenings (8pm onwards) and Saturdays and 60% additional for Sundays and Bank holidays.
* 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays rising to 29 after 5 years and 33 days after 10 years.
* Educated to A level, HNC or equivalent.
* Certificate in Mental Health law or similar qualification.
Experience
* Working in an administrative role in the NHS or comparable setting.
* Operating systems for managing and monitoring information.
* Following organisation procedures and maintaining quality standards in one’s work.
* Working with a range of professionals of different backgrounds.
* Use of computer-based systems and programmes.
* Some knowledge of the MHA and its Code of Practice.
Skills and Aptitude
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Ability to demonstrate a sensitive approach towards service users.
* Ability to communicate effectively with senior professionals, Hospital Managers and Mental Health Tribunal representatives.
* Awareness of the need for sensitivity and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive matters.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines in a challenging and demanding environment.
* Willingness to travel to other Trust sites and other venues as required.
* Experience of line management/supporting others in order to achieve a shared vision/goal.
Skills and Abilities
