Seamanship Engineer Client: BAE Systems Location: Scotstoun Duration : 12 month contract Rate : £31.29 PAYE or £42.08 Umbrella 1 days per week on site Join our Seamanship Engineering Team and play a key role in the design, development, and integration of naval and commercial ship seamanship systems. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge maritime technology, supporting system verification, compartment design, and integration while ensuring quality and cost efficiency. Key Responsibilities: ✔ Develop and refine Seamanship systems, including anchor handling, boat launch & recovery, mission bay handling, and replenishment at sea. ✔ Produce layout drawings and update digital models for seamless design integration. ✔ Collaborate with engineers, designers, and suppliers to ensure high-quality system integration. ✔ Conduct technical analyses and provide recommendations for design improvements. ✔ Support HAZID, Safety & Design Reviews to maintain industry standards. ✔ Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team decision-making. What We're Looking For: Degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience). Working towards or registered as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer. Strong understanding of ship seamanship systems and system integration. Experience with AutoCAD, FORAN, or similar CAD tools. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively.
