We are looking for a qualified Nursery Practitioner to support our SEN team working on a 1-2-1 basis as and when needed.
REQUIREMENTS.
A minimum Level 2 Nursery Practitioner qualification or a minimum of 1 year work experience as a 1-2-1.
Confident communication skills and to be a motivator in the classroom (1-2-1 or small group support).
A current Enhanced DBS that is registered with the Update Service, or you will be prepared to apply for a new DBS with ourselves (cost applied).
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate 1-2-1 Nursery Practitioner to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working as a 1-2-1 support for SEN children and a strong background in early childhood education. This role involves creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children, fostering their development through play and structured activities. The 1-2-1 Nursery Practitioner will also be responsible for managing daily operations within the nursery, ensuring the highest standards of care and education are met.
Responsibilities
1. The role of the 1-2-1 nursery practitioner is to ensure inclusive practice and supporting children who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
2. The 1-2-1 nursery practitioner has day-to-day responsibility for implementing the setting’s Inclusion or SEND policy and to work closely with others and parents to support children with SEND.
3. Promote an ethos of inclusive practice within the setting support staff to uphold the settings ethos and approach to children with additional needs.
4. Support the settings SENCO to ensure the setting provides inclusive EY provision Ensure early identification and intervention is implemented across the nursery Talk to, advise and support practitioners who are concerned about a child.
5. Ensure that relevant background information about individual children is collected, recorded and up-dated, and that all written records are completed.
6. Ensure the targeted and personalised plans are being followed.
7. Attending professional development opportunities including external training to support areas for development identified during annual appraisal Sharing elements of training relating to SEND with practitioners.
8. Provide high-quality care and education to children in a nursery setting.
9. Plan and implement engaging activities that promote learning and development in line with early years frameworks.
10. Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to build strong relationships and support children's individual needs.
11. Observe and assess children's progress, maintaining accurate records to inform future planning.
12. Manage daily routines, including meal times, nap times, and play sessions, ensuring a safe and organised environment.
13. Lead by example, demonstrating best practices in childcare and early education.
14. Support the development of children’s social skills through positive interactions and group activities.
15. Drive initiatives that enhance the nursery's reputation within the community.
Qualifications
1. Experience working as a 1-2-1 nursery practitioner in a nursery or childcare setting is essential.
2. A Level 2/3 qualification in Early Childhood Education or equivalent is highly desirable.
3. Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
4. A genuine passion for childcare and early years education.
5. Ability to drive initiatives that support children's learning and development.
6. A commitment to safeguarding children’s welfare at all times.
