About the Role:
Cargill is looking for a Process Operating Technician to join our York Cocoa & Chocolate manufacturing facility. This role offers the chance to learn and grow in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while working with advanced food processing systems. As part of our team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of safety and quality.
Location: York, UK
Shifts:
The role will initially involve Monday-Friday day shifts (40 hours/week), transitioning to a 4 on / 4 off pattern including day and night shifts, to ensure 24/7 plant coverage.
Key Responsibilities
1. Learn all aspects of the Process Operator role, including site health & safety, risk assessments, and food safety practices (HACCP).
2. Operate and control manufacturing processes, ensuring product quality and efficiency.
3. Conduct fault identification, raise work orders, and perform root cause analysis.
4. Maintain high standards of plant housekeeping through 'clean as you go' practices.
5. Participate in quality control and data analysis to drive continuous improvement.
6. Work closely with the maintenance team on operational and scheduled maintenance activities.
What We're Looking For
1. High safety awareness for self and other employees and knowledge of health and safety in the workplace.
2. Experience working in a large process manufacturing environment.
3. Knowledge of food safety standards, preferably knowledge of HACCP.
4. Knowledge of environmental controls.
5. Good level of IT skills- including Excel, Word and manufacturing systems.
6. Team player.
7. Good communicator.
8. Continuous improvement mindset.
9. Self-motivated, able to work within a self-managed team.
10. Willingness to undertake manual tasks which sometimes involve working in a dirty and hot environment.
11. Ability to challenge the status quo in a constructive manner.
