Are you passionate about the science behind products you use every day? Do you want to work with world-class brands in the largest consumer goods company in the world? Newcastle Innovation Centre is working on developing Molecular Dynamics models of the interaction of detergent actives such as surfactants and polymers, fabrics, and soil ingredients such as lipids and biological ingredients such as proteins. As part of this development, the Modelling & Simulation group at Newcastle Innovation Centre is offering a 12-month Postdoctoral Placement. What To Expect As a full member of the team, you will have ownership for your projects, leading the development of the models and the design of experiments that may be required to provide data into the models. You will have the opportunity to present your work to Senior Management and work within professional and entrepreneurial cross-functional teams in one of the company's major business categories. Corporate and specific job trainings will be provided to accelerate your development. You will also be given increased levels of responsibility based on your proven capability to produce outstanding results. What We Offer
* Responsibilities and Real Work from Day 1 You will be given specific projects and responsibilities working on real and live business challenges, just like a true P&Ger.
* Continuous training & coaching You will work with passionate people and receive both formal training as well as day-to-day mentoring from your manager., For our placement roles, you will need to provide your own right to work in the UK for the full duration of your placement without requiring sponsorship from P&G. Note, this will require your right to work permission to be valid for the full 12 months duration of your placement for a minimum of 37.5 hours per week.
P&G is legally required to ensure all candidates have the right to work in the UK from Day 1 of their employment. All applicants will therefore be asked to provide evidence of their right to work at the conclusion of the recruitment process as a condition of employment.
* A PhD in computational Biochemistry/chemistry or related subject with a strong background in Molecular Dynamics techniques
* You will also have a background with M-DPD/Martini mesoscale methods, especially applied to colloidal systems such as surfactant/polymers solutions in contact with soils. The candidate should be fluid using software such as GROMACS (preferred), LAMMPS or other similar simulation packages such as AMBER, NAMD or CHARMM. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong technical background and a passion for applying science to real-world cases to prove their capabilities.
* Experience in molecular simulation using molecular dynamics, Monte Carlo or dissipative particle dynamics techniques, and the analysis of complex simulation data.
* Experience in the development of molecular simulation models, such as fine tuning of different force field models.
* Experience in the use of scripting to control workflows (such as Python, bash, Perl) and automate simulation work processes (inputs -> simulations -> analysis of results), as well as fluent in Linux language.
* Experience in automating these complex work processes in web apps that connect to High Performance Computer clusters to easily run simulations.
* Experience with colloidal systems concepts such as interfacial tension, surface tension, critical micelle concentration, sorption isotherms, micelle aggregation number, binding energy, etc.
* Strong verbal and written English language skills.
