We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team, who will report directly to the Head of Finance. In this role, you will collaborate with the Head of Finance to lead and develop the accounting team within Government’s Finance function (known as the Treasury).
The Treasury encompasses the full breadth of core finance functions, such as financial forecasting, budget management, financial planning, investment and decision support, accounts payable and accounts receivable as well as Taxation, Pensions and Internal Audit. As Senior Accountant, you will ensure compliance with all statutory and governance requirements and be accountable for the production of the annual financial accounts, as well as helping to drive through the annual budget process.
The Person
The successful applicant will be a qualified CCAB (or CIMA) accountant and have significant senior-level experience in accountancy. You will have a proven track record within a large, multi-disciplinary organisation with comparable scope, responsibilities, budgets and resources.
You will possess strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to win confidence and maintain credibility with a broad range of stakeholders. You will also have demonstrable leadership skills, including the ability to make decisions and deliver a high level of service.
An ability to see the bigger picture, but also a willingness to get involved in the detail, is essential.
The Package
* Fixed Term Contract of up to 4 years.
* Starting Salary - £47,428 to £54,424 per annum rising to £64,149 for exceptional candidates (depending on qualifications and experience).
* Eligibility for a 25% Gratuity, paid upon successful completion of the contract.
* 30 Days Annual Leave, plus government and public holidays (totalling 41 days leave).
* Relocation Allowance, to help with moving costs.
* Flights Package for you and recognised dependents at the beginning and end of contract, and additional annual return flights contingent on the duration of the contract.

* Favourable income tax rates: Starting from 1 January 2025, the Personal Allowance will be £16,860 pa (NB: The first £18,000 of taxable income is taxed at a rate of 21%, with income above this amount taxed at 26%).
