Role Overview:
As aSEN HLTA, you will play a pivotal role in delivering personalized support to students with diverse needs, including those withAutism,ADHD,Speech and Language Delays, and other complex conditions. Working closely with teachers and the SENCO, you will assist in creating and implementing effective learning strategies, lead group interventions, and provide tailored support for students to achieve their educational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
* Providehigh-quality supportto students with various SEN, including facilitating group lessons and individual interventions in the absence of the class teacher.
* Offerone-on-one and small group supportto students, adapting your approach to meet their unique learning needs.
* Assist in the planning and differentiation of learning activities to ensure accessibility for all students.
* Monitor student progress, track improvements, and collaborate with teachers, the SENCO, and parents to ensure the best possible outcomes for each child.
* Help create apositive, inclusiveclassroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and confident in their learning.
* Support withbehavior management, using strategies that promote a calm and productive classroom environment.
* Work alongside the SENCO and other professionals to implementindividualized education plans (IEPs)andtargeted interventionsfor students.
* Ensure the safety and well-being of all students by adhering to safeguarding and child protection policies.
Required Skills and Experience:
* Experienceworking with students withspecial educational needs, preferably in aspecialist schoolenvironment.
* HLTA qualificationor equivalent, with an in-depth understanding of effective support strategies for students with complex SEN.
* Stronginterpersonal skillsand the ability to work closely with students, teachers, and parents to promote inclusive education.
* Apatient, caringattitude with the ability to manage students with a wide range of needs, includingAutism Spectrum Disorder (ASD),ADHD, and other learning challenges.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing student needs.
* A commitment to promoting thesafeguarding and welfareof all students.
Desirable:
* Previous experience supporting students withcomplex learning needs, includingAutism,ADHD, andPMLD.
* Knowledge ofbehaviour management techniquesandinclusive teaching practices.
* Relevant qualifications inSENor child development, such asLevel 3 Teaching Assistant, or similar certifications.
* Understanding of thecurriculumanddifferentiationtechniques for students with SEN.
