We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Materials Coordinator to join our team at our Gosport site. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the availability, accuracy, and movement of raw materials to support efficient and timely production. This is a hands-on role requiring close collaboration with Planning, Production, Procurement, and Warehouse teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Interpret raw material and work-in-progress (WIP) requirements based on production plans across all Gosport production areas.
2. Utilise inventory and shop-floor systems (SNAP/BPCS) to locate and monitor raw material for selection and re-use.
3. Conduct weekly physical stock checks of all raw materials in line with the cycle count plan; reconcile findings with shop orders and system records.
4. Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to stock movements and transactional errors.
5. Notify Planning and Production teams of material variances identified during the closure of shop orders.
6. Collaborate with the Production Team Leader to make informed decisions on plan deviations outside normal planning hours.
7. Provide daily updates to the Planner regarding shift activity and any potential material issues.
8. Prepare shop orders, labels, and materials 48 hours in advance of scheduled production.
9. Ensure timely and accurate transfer of raw materials and finished goods between warehouses to meet production and dispatch deadlines.
10. Participate in month-end inventory processes, attending variance meetings and investigating any discrepancies promptly.
11. Oversee the unloading and internal movement of inbound deliveries including raw materials, packaging, reels, and pallets.
12. Plan and manage paper reel deliveries from docks, adhering to delivery schedules and site usage requirements.
13. Report any dangerous occurrences, incidents, or near-misses to the Team Leader or Warehouse Manager in accordance with health and safety procedures.
14. Lead shift activities in accordance with documented work instructions, ensuring resource allocation supports production requirements across the site.
15. Ensure compliance with all internal procedures and escalate any deviations to the appropriate line manager.
16. Perform full stock checks using SNAP/BPCS and provide reconciliations to the Accounts department as required.
17. Exercise discretion in making commercial decisions, including raising or amending shop orders outside of core planning hours.
18. Verify the quality and accuracy of all receipted goods and ensure prompt and accurate documentation.
19. Accurately locate goods within designated warehouse zones.
20. Liaise with Planning/Procurement regarding supplier short deliveries identified upon receipt.
21. Monitor stock levels of key items (pallets, labels, tapes, etc.) and communicate any shortfalls relative to production demand.
22. Manage stock statuses (e.g., QC, Positive Release, 1B) and initiate changes where necessary.
23. Maintain a clean and organised working environment in line with company housekeeping standards.
Skills and Experience
1. Excellent communication skills, including professional interaction via phone, email, and Microsoft Teams.
2. Demonstrated problem-solving ability and initiative.
3. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and other PC-based systems.
4. Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
5. Previous experience in inventory control, materials coordination, or warehouse operations is essential.
6. Familiarity with SNAP/BPCS or equivalent systems is highly desirable.
