We are looking for 1 apprentice to join our Manufacturing Engineering team located at our Peterborough facility (PE1 5FQ). Our Manufacturing Engineering team is responsible for designing and improving our high-quality low-cost processes.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
* Analysis of manufacturing processes across the Machining Centre of Excellence in all aspects of production.
* Adherence to product design requirements, cost, quality, compliance to safety standards and environmental requirements.
* Work closely with a wide range of functions within the business, including Operations, Quality, Design Engineering and Supply Chain to ensure you develop the skills needed to become a successful manufacturing engineer within Caterpillar.

Course contents
* Foundation Stage: Complying with statutory regulations and stringent organisational safety requirements
* Foundation Stage: Producing components using hand fitting, fabrication and joining techniques
* Foundation Stage: Producing Computer Aided Design (CAD) models (drawings) using a CAD system
* Foundation Stage: Preparing and using lathes, milling and other general or specialist machines and high tech equipment
* Foundation Stage: Preparing and proving Computer Numeric Control programmes
* Foundation Stage: Using computer software packages to assist with and evaluate engineering activities
* Foundation Stage: Producing and managing engineering project plans
* Foundation Stage: Producing assemblies using a wide range of materials and techniques
* Development Team: Project management and scheduling engineering activities
* Development Team: Securing appropriate resources and managing budgets and resources
* Development Team: Implementing, monitoring and evaluating engineering processes
Your training plan
* As part of this programme apprentices are required to attend university sessions on a day release basis (online synchronous delivery once a week, and on campus (Coventry city centre) sessions 1 – 2 times per month).
* On campus sessions will allow you to experience Coventry University’s state of the art labs and facilities which will enhance the quality of training you will be given.
* Travel will need to be considered for the face-to-face sessions - the campus does have excellent public transport links with it being within the city centre and there are also car parks with discounted student rates (subject to availability)
