Job Description:
The Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police is seeking to appoint two Assistant People Directors to join his Executive Leadership team. GMP has a clear plan, and you will join the team who are working relentlessly to inspire trust and confidence, provide visible and clear leadership and focus on the performance needed to lead a rapidly improving GMP.

The Force continues on the most significant reform programme seen in GMP with a clear focus to get the Force back to where it deserves, as the best performing Metropolitan Force in the UK.
Reporting directly to the Chief Resourcing Officer/Assistant Chief Officer, Chief People Officer, the Assistant People Director role will work strategically and will have an influential role across the whole spectrum of people strategy and implementation of this across the organisation. You will be accountable for a delegated people portfolio from the Chief Resourcing Officer/Assistant Chief Officer, Chief People Officer, from strategic creation to delivery and operational implementation of the people agenda.
This is a critical HR leadership role within the People function, carrying a significant level of strategic, operational and leadership responsibility. The post holder must be capable of giving clarity of direction and fostering engagement for individuals and key stakeholders throughout the organisation while demonstrating a passion and purpose to provide the framework for a high performing and engaged workforce, with high quality, standards and behaviours. This role has ultimate responsibility for shaping and delivering the people strategy that is aligned to the 5-year plan, from both a strategic and operational implementation perspective in a rapidly changing environment.
The successful candidates will cover the full remit of HR, paying particular attention to their designated portfolio. The role supports the Organisation to continuously improve its performance in achieving its goals through people and influencing senior leaders to get the best out of their teams. The Assistant People Director supports the organisation to reduce risk through necessary compliance. The role demonstrates a high level of professionalism; inspiring and engaging the wider people branch to deliver the priorities together as one team.
Successful candidates will take ownership of working in a challenging People environment to support the Chief Constable in delivering upon the ambition to become the most improved and highest performing Police Force in the UK. It will require a person drawn from amongst the most experienced and committed senior leaders, who engage, inspire, and care for those they lead with a clear sense of public duty, to deliver sustained improvements to the current people internal to Greater Manchester Police and those about to embark on their careers with the force.
