The Opportunity
We are looking for an Information & Communications Technology (ICT) Consultant to join our Digital Technology Consulting team, which is based within the Arup Digital Services Portfolio. It is a position suitable for someone who is already a consultant or has worked in a pre-sales technical design support or service provider/operator environment.
We are looking for a passionate person with an in-depth knowledge and background in ICT facilities and cabling infrastructure, cabling technologies and the cabling industry. We are looking for someone with strong social skills, who can work with (and supervise) other members of staff. As a technical specialist on projects, you will take a lead role in the delivery of projects and the interface with clients.
The role will involve:
* Capturing, developing and interpreting client ICT infrastructure and systems requirements.
* Contributing to ICT infrastructure and systems design development (from concept through to construction).
* Producing project deliverables such as presentations, basis of design documents, specifications, drawings, technical notes, and minutes of meetings.
* Engaging and collaborating with team members and other project disciplines to ensure designs and deliverables are fully coordinated.
* Supporting with on-site monitoring and witness testing of ICT infrastructure and systems installations.
* Checking own work in accordance with quality management systems.
Projects will be in the UK and abroad. The candidate will be willing to travel when needed; however, this role does not require extended periods away.
Is this role right for you?
We’re looking for a candidate who can demonstrate:
* Experience of delivering ICT infrastructure and systems design projects across a range of sectors such as property, transport, technology and social infrastructure.
* Understanding of one or more of the following technology areas: ICT Cabling, ICT Facilities, Wired Networks and Wireless Networks.
* An appreciation of how ICT infrastructure and systems are integrated within the built and natural environment.
* Working knowledge of the following software packages: AutoCAD, Revit and/or Navisworks and Microsoft Office.
* Effective communication skills in English both oral and written.
* An ability to write clear and concise reports, presentations and specifications in both technical and non-technical language, including preparation of easy-to-understand system diagrams and schematics.
Your technical skills and knowledge will be comprehensive and should allow you to comfortably advise our clients and develop design strategies with our internal teams.
You will be capable of working on several projects at the same time and have the ability to prioritise activities for yourself and others.
