The Role Our award-winning Mission Systems Group deliver some of the world’s most advanced aviation IT systems from our office in Lincoln. As a result of our continued success and business expansion, we are delighted to offer multiple Systems Engineering opportunities to support the development and delivery of our bespoke IT products. The Mission Systems Team has recently transitioned to an Agile working methodology to develop our electronic mapping and mission support products and requires additional experienced Systems Engineers. As a Systems Engineer, you will be directly supporting Chief Engineer in the product development cycle as part of a multi-disciplined team, ensuring Systems Engineering aspects of development and documentation, including validation, are performed to the highest standards. The main duties of the roles may include (dependent upon experience): Working in Project Teams: Derivation and Validation of Customer Requirements. Development of system validation test procedures to satisfy the derived requirements. Producing project artifacts (VCRI/VCRM, ITEAP, etc.). Producing self-certification documentation (in accordance with DO-178C & DO‑254) Coordinating supporting work from others. Representing Mission Systems Engineering at Customer events, e.g., PDR, CDR, Acceptance. Maintaining solid Systems Engineering principles within a project delivery. Reviewing documentation from a multi-disciplinary team. Supporting the overall development of our products: Managing and conducting software and system tests. Continuous improvement of process and procedures. Undertaking related project activities. Supporting Mission Systems’ goals and activities. Further development of the role is possible. These roles are based in the Company Offices in Lincoln; remote working is available where tasking allows - applicants should assume that they may be required to work in the office full-time some weeks. The Person We are looking for a proactive, articulate, flexible and confident individual with excellent attention to detail and the discipline to produce consistently high-quality output, whilst committing to the principles of developing high quality systems to specific standards. As a member of a small highly skilled team, the responsibilities of the role will necessarily be broad and varied and you should be prepared to assume a comprehensive range of tasks, be capable of working with minimum supervision, be confident enough to contribute your own suggestions and ideas and have a ‘can do’ attitude as you will be required to take a flexible, constructive and timely approach to meeting the diverse needs of the Company’s business. You will also have an inquisitive/analytical mind, be able to research issues independently and suggest pragmatic, business-focused solutions. We require a proactive individual w ith relevant and recent knowledge and experience of providing output aligned to the role requirements defined above. Qualifications, Skills and Experience Evidence of the following would be considered essential: A methodical approach to work. Excellent written and verbal communication. Experience of Requirements, Architecture and Verification concepts for Software and Systems. Experience of producing Systems Engineering artifacts. A working knowledge of the principles of configuration control. Expert user of modern office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.). Experience in using Requirements, Verification, and/or Configuration Management tools (e.g. IBM Rational DOORS, Azure DevOps, etc). System, hardware or software test experience, ideally within a regulated domain (e.g., aerospace). Evidence (including qualifications or certifications) of any of the following would be considered desirable: Knowledge of the principles of the development of systems for safety related systems (RTCA/DO‑178C, DO‑200A, DO-254, IEC61508, etc.). Experienced user of IBM Rational DOORS. A strong understanding of the aviation environments in which our products are used. Working Knowledge of COTS hardware. Working Knowledge of on-aircraft integration. Experience of leadership within small teams. Due to the nature of elements of the role, the successful applicant must be a UK National and may be required to successfully complete National Security Vetting which may require criminal record, security service and credit reference checks; qualification will also normally require a minimum UK residency of at least 5 years.
