We are looking for an individual with experience of coaching goalkeepers in an academy environment to join the team as our YDP/Foundation Phase Goalkeeper Coach on a casual basis. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing position specific development programs for goalkeepers of two out of four youth teams (U12, U11, U10, U9), together with designing and delivering training sessions throughout the week and coaching goalkeepers on match days.
What will you be doing?
1.Coaching and Player Development: Plan and deliver age-appropriate training sessions aligned with the club’s goalkeeper curriculum, support goalkeepers during team training sessions, ensuring integration into tactical drills and attend matches to provide hands-on support, including warm-ups, tactical briefings, and in-game feedback.
2. Individual Development Plans (IDPs): Create and maintain IDPs for the respective goalkeepers, updating them quarterly based on performance and progression, conduct mid-year and end-of-year reviews with players and parents, providing comprehensive feedback on strengths, areas for improvement, and next steps.
3. Talent Identification and Recruitme nt: Support the U14 to Pre-Academy Goalkeeping Lead and recruiting staff with identifying potential goalkeepers, participate in talent identification events, such as goalkeeper camps or recruitment sessions, and provide input on trialist evaluations.
4. Performance Monitoring and Analysis : Use video analysis tools to review matches and training sessions, clip footage to illustrate key learning points for players, help delivering regular analysis workshops and track training/match performance ratings and contribute to building a database of goalkeeper metrics.
5. Parent Engagement: Act as point of contact for GK parents, provide regular updates and formal reviews if required, maintain open lines of communication to address questions, concerns, or feedback from parents and other stakeholders.
6. Administrative Duties : Maintain accurate training schedules, attendance records, and match reports for goalkeepers. Use provided platforms to record development progress and profile related data.
7. Collaboration: Work closely with respective Head Coaches, other GK Coaches and the U14 to Pre-Academy Goalkeeping Lead. Align development related strategies with other departments (e.g. S&C, Education, Medical, etc.) to ensure an effective and progressing development process.
Who are we looking for?
To be successful in this role, you will hold a UEFA Goalkeeping B Licence and UEFA B Licence as well as holding FA Safeguarding and First Aid Certifications. Ideally, you will also hold the FA Youth Award.You will have a substantial track record in coaching goalkeepers in an academy environment, particularly at U14 – Pre-Academy level.You can demonstrate evidence-based success in preparing players for progression into higher phases (PDP and professional level).
You will have a fun and energetic coaching style, with the ability to motivate young players while maintaining high standards.You will have a forward-thinking and adaptable approach to coaching, with a focus on continuous improvement.With your excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you can engage effectively with players, parents, and staff.You will have strong organisational and administrative skills to handle schedules, registers, and reports. You will have experience with video analysis tools and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
You can act in accordance with EPPP and Youth Development Rules including maintaining qualifications and undertaking continuous professional development.
