If so, you might be interested in applying for the role of Senior Information Governance and Records Officer in Legal and Democratic Services.
The role has a dual purpose:
1. to act as the council’s Business Partner for Records Management, working alongside the Hosted Records Management Service
2. to work alongside/deputise for the council’s Data Protection Officer

This role is agile combining home working with office-based working at any of the council’s offices:
1. South Lakeland House, Kendal
2. Voreda House, Penrith
3. Craven House, Barrow
4. Parkhouse, Carlisle
Who we are looking for…
We are specifically looking for applicants who have experience in:
1. providing advice/guidance to stakeholders
2. developing records management standards and procedures
3. embedding Retention and Disposal Schedules
4. designing training/communication programmes
5. conducting audits
6. supporting on the completion of data sharing agreements/data protection impact assessments
7. information asset management
8. data breach/security incident management
You must have the ability to explain complex legal concepts to a variety of audiences, using appropriate communication channels and techniques, and have experience of problem solving, innovative thinking and project management techniques.
You will be self-motivated, adaptable, flexible and able to manage your time effectively. The ability to work in a pressurised environment, managing complex priorities and responding to competing deadlines is essential.
Ideally you will have experience of working in a large local authority and/or knowledge of local authority governance. A commitment to delivering the best possible service for the benefit of our residents and clients is required. You must have good IT literacy skills and an ability to use electronic resources for the purpose of research is critical. You must be able to drive and travel independently between remote locations.
Other duties will include dealing with a range of matters including providing advice to officers and elected members, advising on legal implications in Committee, Council and Cabinet reports, attending Council Committees and working groups as required.
