THE ROLE
As Diesel Technical Lead, you will be responsible for Turnkey Contracts related to the Design, Manufacturing, Qualification, Installation, and Commissioning of the Diesel Generator contracts for the project. You will support the Contract Engineering Lead (CEL) through the following activities:
* Assist the CEL in resolving technical issues related to design, manufacturing, and qualification.
* Surveillance of design documentation as specified in the List of Documents Required from the Contractor and Surveillance Plan ensuring that all the requirements from the specification are followed including equipment specifications, P&IDs, test specifications, mechanical calculations, qualification specs, reliability calculations, etc.
* Work with the Diesel System Engineers as required to ensure design interfaces (electrical, process, and I&C) between the turnkey contract and wider plant.
* Assist the CEL with management, tracking of design risks, preparation, assessment of early warning and variations.
* Assist the CEL to answer supplier requests such as request for information, Interface Queries, or Exemption Request with assistance/sign off from CEL as required.
* Interface with the service contractor, the client, and all other stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure the successful delivery of the contract aligned with the overall engineering schedule and technical specification.
* Assist the CEL with Configuration Management: Contract Transfer Sheets, Design Modifications, and Referential Evolution Requests preparation as required.
* Support for the development of action plans for OP.
* Support for the preparation of governance meetings.
* Management of interfaces between the Contractor's equipment within the scope of supply and interfacing systems, contracts, and buildings.
* Assist the CEL with the preparation of the annual surveillance report.
* Knowledge management (lessons learnt for future other projects).
* Provide similar support to other project’s diesel contracts as required.
This experience will give you the opportunity to move on to other projects in the medium term: you will tackle varied but complementary projects, studies, and technical topics. Your understanding of the technical and environmental challenges will allow you to take on complex and critical transversal studies.
REQUIRED SKILLS
* Knowledge and experience with some of the following equipment:
-Instrumentation (highly desirable)
-Pressure equipment such as valves and tanks (highly desirable)
-Filters
-Piping and ducting
-Rotating equipment (motors, pumps, compressors)
* Experience in nuclear or another highly-regulated industry (aerospace, oil & gas, energy, or public sector) is desirable.
* Understanding of Diesel Generators or similar multi-disciplinary nuclear power plant equipment is desirable.
* Project Management or Project Engineering experience.
* Knowledge of UK regulatory requirements (CDM, COSHH, IRR, Environmental Permitting, etc.).
* Experience with British / ISO standards and other design codes.
* Excellent communication and people engagement skills.
* Excellent leadership skills in large teams in complex environments.
* French-speaking would be an advantage.
