The Role
The School of Access to Higher Education within The City of Liverpool College delivers a wide range of Access to H.E. courses across a range of curriculum areas. We are seeking someone who can teach level 3 Psychology to Access to Higher Education students and who has the necessary attributes to engage students who have previously been resistant to education.
You will join an established team who have many years' experience providing a successful Access to Higher Education provision to our students. We have built strong links with local, regional, and national Higher Education Institutions, and our students benefit from this.
We are seeking a bank lecturer on a temporary basis who can build on these links, and further strengthen our team by providing effective and stimulating opportunities for all students, through high quality teaching, learning, and assessment.

Key Responsibilities
* To contribute to the College and curriculum area strategic objectives and to actively engage in the annual review.
* To be aware of national developments in the subject area and update knowledge and skills on an annual basis.
* To plan, prepare, and deliver high quality lessons in order to achieve effective management of the learning process.
* Plan and use a range of effective and appropriate teaching and learning techniques to engage and motivate students and encourage independence and student autonomy.
* Establish a purposeful and motivating learning environment where students feel safe, secure, confident, and valued.
* Establish and maintain procedures with students which promote and maintain appropriate behaviour, communication, and respect for others, while challenging discriminatory behaviour and attitudes.
* To set and mark work in accordance with College and School Assessment policies, to record work carried out and assessment of same.
* To track all students' progress and attendance in accordance with agreed College systems and policies.
* To provide a balance of appropriate teaching styles and learning experiences.
* To be aware of external/internal assessment procedures and to play an appropriate part in their implementation.
* Evaluate and improve own communication skills to maximise effective communication and overcome barriers.
* To liaise with Head of School in contributing to the design of programmes and teaching approaches which will enable curriculum areas to achieve high standards and value added.
* To liaise with Head of School and curriculum teams in contributing to the administration necessary to support the teaching, learning, and assessment within the subject area.
* To work with colleagues with relevant expertise to identify and address additional student English and Maths skills development in the subject area.
* To review own professional development needs and to participate fully in future training and development.
* To communicate and consult with parents, carers, and students including Parent's Evening, Welcome Evenings, events, and open evenings.
* To ensure that all students in the subject area comply with College's policies and procedures.
* To provide enrichment opportunities that are exciting, motivating, and enhance the student experience.
* To contribute fully to the mission and values of the college Group ensuring its effective implementation in all aspects of college life.
* To take a proactive approach to Health and Safety requirements at all times.
* Be committed to the Safeguarding of children and young people.
* To act as an ambassador for the College, promoting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.
* To carry out such other relevant and appropriate duties within the framework of a post of this grade that may from time to time be required at a location determined by the needs of the service.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Criteria
* Educated to Level 4 e.g. Degree or equivalent in psychology.
* A recognised Teaching qualification or vocational experience.
* Professional qualification relevant to the subject area.
* Excellent computer literacy – ability to use the current IT programs of the College.
* Proven relevant experience of curriculum planning, development & delivery in psychology at L3.
* Knowledge and understanding of the psychology provision.
* Engaged in Continuing Professional Development.
* Minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy or willingness to complete.
* High level of communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to set high standards for students, colleagues, and for themselves.
* Experience of resource-based learning.
* ICT qualification.
