SALARY: £34K – £40k FTE plus pension
JOB TYPE: Fixed Term Contract – 12 months Maternity cover
HOURS: 29.6 per week (0.8 or four days)
LOCATION: ECC Campus, Stevenage and working across Group sites in North Herts
JOB PURPOSE:
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about the development and improvement of teaching, learning, and curriculum at both an individual and organisational level to join the Teaching, Learning and Quality team.
You will be responsible for leading on teacher and professional development across all provision types including study programmes, apprenticeships, adults, SEND and subcontractors. Working with a team of Teaching and Learning Coaches and utilising evidence-informed practice, you will support curriculum areas to develop their teaching practice in line with their Quality Improvement Plans and Duo targets to drive significant improvements with demonstrable impact. You will also be responsible for ensuring staff who are new to the organisation and/or new to teaching develop a robust knowledge of teaching and learning techniques and uphold our expectations through the teacher induction and teacher training programmes.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
3. A passion for education demonstrated through a strong understanding of teaching and assessment in the further education setting.
4. A strong track record of excellent teaching and learning with evidence of inspiring and challenging teaching practice, whilst achieving high levels of student success.
5. Experience of curriculum, course design and assessment that meets awarding body requirements.
6. Be committed to and proactive in the development of own practice through professional development.
7. Experience of the use of coaching to support teacher development.
8. Level 5 teaching qualification.
9. GCSE grade 4-9 in maths and English (or equivalent).
10. Good analytical skills with proven ability to use data to identify issues and opportunities to drive quality and performance.
11. Organised with an ability to work flexibly towards challenging targets and manage time effectively.
12. Strong communication and presentation skills, supporting the need to work with colleagues at all levels of the organisation including governors and externals.
13. An ability to engage and motivate individuals to deliver high performance outcomes in a further education environment.
14. Good understanding of diversity and inclusion and the importance of this in an educational setting.
15. Good digital skills, including the ability to learn and use software quickly and the use of MS Office applications.
Desirable
16. Assessor and verifier qualifications.
17. A degree and/or professional qualification in a relevant subject area.
18. Experience of delivering high-quality teacher training or teacher development.
19. Experienced observer of classroom and workplace teaching and learning assessments, with experience of providing feedback and writing targeted action plans.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
20. Drive improvements in teaching, learning, and curriculum through quality improvement activity ensuring we make strong progress against curriculum Duo targets.
21. Lead a cross-organisational team of Teaching and Learning Coaches to provide coaching and development to curriculum areas and teachers in line with curriculum Duo Targets, Quality Improvement Plans, and individual Teacher Development Plans.
22. Deliver a professional development programme across all provision types that is rooted in evidence-informed practice and enables a culture of self-reflection and collaboration.
23. Support curriculum areas with their delivery of professional development programmes.
24. Support the design and delivery of CPD days, staff conferences and other organisation wide development.
25. Coordinate and facilitate the sharing of best practice across the organisation including peer observations, practice sharing activity and action research.
26. Establish and utilise connections with external networks and organisations to enrich the scope and diversity of the professional development offer.
27. Build communication channels to provide teachers with the latest insights and information related to teaching and professional development (including maintaining the Professional Development area on SharePoint).
28. Monitor and evaluate the impact of teacher development activity.
29. Deliver the teacher induction programme.
30. Lead, deliver, assess, and quality assure our teacher education programmes to internal and external audiences (including Award and Diploma in Education & Training, Diploma in Teaching, TAQA, and Support Practitioner).
31. Lead on recruitment of internal and external participants to our teacher education programmes.
32. Lead and deliver a programme of support to enable colleagues to complete professional formation leading to QTLS and ATS.
33. Investigate and develop the use of externally funded and organised projects to improve teaching, learning, and curriculum.
34. Work with the Learning Technologist to improve the digital skills of teachers.
35. Support organisational activity including open evenings, enrolment and events as required.
