Job overview
We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic dietitian to join our Adult Acute Dietetic Team at the James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Band 6 Macmillan Dietitian. We are a small and friendly team that includes a range of dietitians from senior to newly qualified, dietetic assistant practitioners, dietetic assistants, and secretarial support.
Macmillan has funded an oncology-focused position which will enhance the service to patients with a diagnosed cancer and will provide specialist oncology dietetic advice and intervention throughout the cancer pathway. The successful candidate will be providing specialist care to patients from various tumour sites during all stages of the cancer pathway in both an inpatient and outpatient setting. As the role is a fixed-term position, monitoring key performance indicators and collecting outcome measures will be essential from the outset to support the business case development for a substantive post.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a self-motivated, confident, and team-focused individual who is passionate about oncology to provide dietetic care to this aspect of the service and work alongside the specialist multidisciplinary teams and the wider Nutrition and Dietetic Team.
All dietitians are actively involved in student training and host training to placement students from The University of Hertfordshire. You will be actively involved in these training programmes and in the development, implementation, and audit of patient care practices as part of clinical governance. There will also be opportunities to develop supervisory skills through mentoring junior members of the team.
