We are currently assisting our client in recruiting a skilled Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join their team. This role is ideal for a professional with safeguarding experience, particularly someone currently working in a school or multi-academy trust. Role Overview:
In the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), you will be responsible for leading safeguarding practices across schools. You will work closely with Head Teachers and other DSLs to ensure that safeguarding procedures are robust, effective, and compliant with all relevant legislation.
You will provide guidance and support to school staff, help develop safeguarding policies, deliver training, and ensure that safeguarding records are properly maintained. The role will also involve conducting safeguarding audits, supporting action plans, and ensuring that all safeguarding concerns are managed in line with best practice.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and support safeguarding practices across schools, ensuring compliance with national safeguarding standards and Local Safeguarding Partnership procedures.
* Advise and collaborate with Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) and Designated Deputy Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs) to promote effective safeguarding across schools.
* Develop, deliver, and evaluate safeguarding training sessions for school staff, ensuring they are well-informed of their responsibilities.
* Conduct safeguarding audits and assist schools in implementing any necessary actions based on audit results.
* Provide expert advice and guidance on safeguarding record-keeping and case management, ensuring consistency with legislation and best practice.
* Ensure safeguarding concerns are handled appropriately, with a focus on supporting children and young people’s wellbeing.
What We’re Looking For:
* An experienced Designated Safeguarding Lead, ideally from a good or outstanding school, who has a strong understanding of safeguarding practices.
* Candidates with a mixed background in working in schools, local authorities, social work, and/or early years settings will be preferred.
* Ability to advise and support school staff and senior leaders in safeguarding matters, and to confidently lead safeguarding practices across a school or multiple schools.
* Experience in conducting safeguarding audits and delivering training to staff on best practices in safeguarding.
* A proactive and solution-focused approach to managing safeguarding concerns and cases.
