The Cabinet Office & HM Treasury (COHMT) Commercial team has a vision to be a top performing commercial function in government, setting best practices for others to follow. The team works in partnership with all areas of the business, providing a commercial service that covers planning, commercial strategy, sourcing and contract management on circa £1bn of third party spend.

We are looking for a Senior Commercial Manager to join our team, who will have a significant impact in strengthening commercial acumen across the departments and ultimately delivering value for taxpayers
The COHMT commercial team has recently undergone a change to its operating model and is now organised into spend category teams which are supplemented by business partners and embedded commercial teams in specialist areas and programmes. The directorate is supported by a central team responsible for the overall strategy and enabling functions.
You will be required to work directly with our customers to influence commercial strategy and decision making, and drive value for money in commercial activity.
You will use your commercial expertise and stakeholder management skills to advise across all areas of the commercial lifecycle, from setting the initial commercial strategy to advising on effective contract and supplier management once a contract is live. You will also be responsible for raising commercial awareness and improving commercial compliance across the business areas you support through proactive engagement with key stakeholders.
* Provide front line commercial advice to customers for new procurement activity, advising on commercial strategy and planning, including liaising with Crown Commercial Service (CCS) to enable the procurement activity of the department;
* Work with business areas to build a robust commercial pipeline, contributing to effective forward planning for commercial activity;
* Work with the Head of Category and other commercial team members to enable continual improvement and commercial capability development across the department;
* Advise on and shape requirements, helping business unit customers to act as intelligent customers to CCS;
* Run procurements from CCS Frameworks;
* Work with customers to maintain accurate commercial records in the Contract Management System (Atamis);
* Advise customers on the effective management of contracts for the business area, helping to ensure that Contract Management best practice is implemented for all live contracts;
* Assess commercial data for both accuracy and audit purposes and provide input to management reports and other requests for information;
* Actively work to build positive relationships at all levels across the department to increase commercial awareness and engagement;
* Support commercial colleagues in their development;
* Ensure effective Supplier Relationship Management across all contracts;
* Work as directed by the Category Lead to achieve business and department objectives;
* Contribute to creating a great place to work, championing diversity and inclusive ways of working and proactively participating in improvement activities across the Commercial Directorate
