Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team on our Paediatric High Dependency & Respiratory Ward at Leicester Royal Infirmary (Ward 12, LRI). We need an experienced, highly motivated and dedicated individual who can work with our team to deliver high quality patient care. The post holder should demonstrate effective leadership & management skills, be an exemplary role mode and show clinical expertise in High Dependency care. A successful applicant will be offered the opportunity to gain skills in leadership, management and quality improvement. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with the base wards & the wider multi-disciplinary team within UHL. Ward 12 is a fast paced 12 bedded High Dependency Unit ward which specialises in long term ventilation and respiratory care. In addition, we provide care for paediatric patients requiring high dependency care for a variety of medical and surgical conditions, thus providing staff with an environment for continuous learning and development. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of training and skills programmes within Ward 12.You will contribute to the development and implementation of specific procedures and policies to support clinical education and practice, clinical working, staff development, quality and safety, patient experience and quality standards. Main duties of the job Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of evidence-based nursing care to a group of patients. Leadership and supervision of others carrying out all aspects of the caring process. Deputise and take charge of the given area regularly in the absence of the Ward/Unit Manager who has 24 hour accountability and responsibility. Actively contribute to the improvement of services and the quality of care provision to meet the needs of patients, service users and their families.
